Tom Hammock is a production designer. Hammock was raised in Northern California, where his father researched venoms, insects, and other unusual creatures. This pursuit shaped many of the family's wilderness-focused vacations. His early life was marked by travel, including extended living abroad in Australia and England. After settling down for a time—a development greatly pleased his mother—Hammock pursued a degree in landscape architecture at UC Berkeley. His interest in visual storytelling led him to the American Film Institute, where he studied production design.
